Are You Living Life by Design or by Default?

As we move deeper into the “working” seasons of our lives, responsibilities and obligations begin to layer on - careers, promotions, relationships, raising children, caring for aging parents, and all the moving parts that come with being an adult.

Over time, those layers can form a veil, one that slowly hides what truly matters most: our personal values and priorities.

When the veil thickens, it’s easy to fall into routine. We move through our days on autopilot, checking boxes, meeting expectations, and doing what’s needed, but often losing touch with what’s meaningful and fulfilling. We end up living a life that’s been

shaped for us, instead of by us. And trust me, you’re not alone in this. It’s not a flaw or failure; it’s simply life happening, and most of us are just doing our best to keep up.

But here’s the thing: if life feels a little flat, uncertain, or “off,” that may be your inner compass nudging you to pause and ask, “Am I living life by design…or by default?”

If your honest answer leans toward default, that’s okay. Awareness is the first step toward change. The next step is to take a peek behind the veil to reconnect with your core values and priorities. They are your internal guideposts, ready to help you realign your path with intention and authenticity - so life starts feeling more yours again.

If your curiosity has been piqued and you’re ready to explore what it means to Live Life by Design…Not by Default, I’d love to help.
